Group RFPs and Advocacy
Advocacy-driven consumer protection — supported by fair, transparent Group RFPs
This site exists to help consumers — particularly vulnerable seniors — make informed decisions about complex, high-cost home investments such as roofing, solar panels, and battery storage.
Our work has two connected functions:
1. Advocacy for consumer protection
We advocate for fair treatment of consumers in areas where complexity, aggressive sales practices, safety risks, or information imbalances can place people at a disadvantage.
Our advocacy work is independent of vendors and is not tied to any requirement to purchase products or services.
Some issues relate specifically to seniors; others affect consumers more broadly.
Advocacy topics include:
- Roofing and worker safety
- Solar and electrical safety
- Battery and EV warranty concerns
- Utility and regulatory issues (including BC Hydro)
- Estate law and decision-making considerations affecting seniors
2. Group Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
Group RFPs are offered as an optional way for consumers to explore major home projects with less pressure and greater transparency.
Rather than one-on-one sales conversations, Group RFPs:
- Replace negotiation with structured competition
- Encourage consistent information and pricing
- Allow quality and safety expectations to be set in advance
- Reduce stress for individual homeowners
Group RFPs are currently offered for:
- Replacement roofs
- Solar panels
- Battery storage
They are primarily for residential homes, but may also include strata properties and small businesses.
Participation is never assumed and never required.
How advocacy and Group RFPs fit together
Group RFPs help fund our advocacy work — and advocacy principles shape how Group RFPs are designed.
This helps ensure that consumer protection remains the priority, even when practical projects are being explored.

Most people begin with a free online seminar.
Seminars are educational, not sales presentations.
